Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Media Technician maintains and operates sound systems and audiovisual equipment, primarily for evening/weekend events on campus. Provides professional public address sound system support for events requiring multiple microphones, mixing skills, and audio expertise. Support the use of instructional and presentation technologies across campus. Maintains effective technology-enhanced classrooms and collaboration spaces. This position requires significant interaction with community members, including faculty, staff, students, administrators, and visiting guests.

Physical Demands
This position involves traveling throughout the College and could on occasion require bending, reaching, ascending and descending ladders and stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and talking. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Vocational/technical degree in sound or audio engineering
- Three plus years of related experience
- Or equivalent combination of education or experience
- Experience with live audio mixing, including public address systems, soundboards, speakers, stage monitors, EQ, reverb, and wireless microphones
- Experience with computer projection and presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides)
- Familiarity with databases for record keeping and report writing (e.g. FileMaker Pro, 25Live or similar event management program)
- Competence in troubleshooting problems with audiovisual equipment
- Supervisory experience and strong interest in mentoring student employees
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong public service orientation
- Team orientation, flexibility, and versatility
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex and changing environment
- Well-organized, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to accommodate multiple, conflicting demands
- Demonstrates initiative, perseverance and intellectual curiosity, with a desire to teach others and expand one's own skill set

Education
- Bachelor's degree in sound or audio engineering
- Experience with Midas M32 Live 40 channel Digital Mixer or similar equipment
- Experience with Zoom
