Teaching Assistant Professor for Health Communication

The Department of Communication at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a dedicated teacher focused on Health Communication with additional expertise in Science Communication for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2024, pending budgetary approval. The candidate must be capable of teaching a basic undergraduate Health Communication course and developing, teaching, and revising other health and/or science communication courses in areas such as disinformation, conspiracy theories, social disparities, disability studies, health care access, structural inequality, education, popular literature, theories of power, and/or race, gender, sex, ethnicity, sexuality, or other structural/identity categories as they relate to health and/or science.

This is a one-year, appointment stream position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance review. The starting date for the position is September 1, 2024 (though the term begins in August). Salary, scholarly assistance, and benefits are competitive. Teaching Professors are voting members of the Department’s faculty and can participate in Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences and broader University governance.
