Post Doctoral Associate - Aging Institute - Sekine Lab
Med-Aging Institute - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (22009460)

Postdoc training opportunity exploring novel stress response pathways of cellular organelles. This is a shared postdoc opportunity for the Shiori Sekine lab and the Yusuke Sekine lab at the Aging Institute, University of Pittsburgh. Both Sekine labs are interested in cellular stress signaling pathways, especially those equipped in cellular organelles such as mitochondria. We share lab space and intimately collaborate with each other in our projects. Domestic/Overseas collaborations are also ongoing. Our labs utilize highly established molecular biology techniques, microscopic analysis, genetics, proteomics, transcriptomics, protein biochemistry, and genetically engineered mice to pursue our research interests. We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious postdoc fellow to drive our research project. Expertise in molecular and cellular biology is ideal. However, those who have a different research background are also welcome if they have a strong interest and enthusiasm in uncovering the stress-sensing mechanisms of organelles, and can share our research curiosity. Please take a look at our lab homepage (https://www.shiorilab.net/) and our recent works (for example, Sekine Y, Houston R et al., biorxiv, 2022, Houston R et al., Mol. Biol. Cell, 2021, Houston R et al., PLoS Biol., 2020) as a reference. In CV, please include a personal statement that summarizes past achievements, your strengths, and other points that you want to call attention to. Let’s enjoy together the exciting endeavor of discovering sophisticated stress-sensing mechanisms within the cells that support our lives!

Qualifications: A Ph.D. (awarded in the last 5 years) or MD (awarded in the last 10 years) in biological science (or related field) is required.
