The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of cardiothoracic surgery. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or foreign equivalent or eligible for such certification.
Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students, surgical residents, and fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include supporting the multidisciplinary valve program and TAVR and in- and out-patient care of patients with thoracic aortic disease and valvular and coronary artery disease as well as all other aspects of adult cardiac surgery.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include participation in clinical research on topics in the field of adult cardiac surgery and thoracic aortic disease.
The successful candidate will be a member of Penn's Division of Cardiovascular Surgery and will practice primarily at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, flagship institution of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. The successful candidate will partner with a highly accomplished group of consultative and interventional cardiologists. We seek individuals with advanced thoracic aortic training and capability to become an active participant in our Translational Center of Excellence/ Penn Aorta Center. * We welcome prospective candidates to learn more about the different Faculty Tracks in the Perelman School of Medicine.
