The assistant editor works in a number of capacities at the Buros Center for Testing, which functions as the world's premier test review center and operates as an independent, non-profit organization within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The work of the Buros Center serves to enhance the quality of tests in fulfillment of the Center's mission to improve the science and practice of testing. The assistant editor is the primary contact person for test reviewers for the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) series published by the Buros Center for more than 80 years. Test reviewers are not affiliated with the Buros Center and work as faculty members or practitioners at various entities worldwide.
The assistant editor is responsible for:
1) issuing invitations to reviewers who have been identified by the assignment editor
2) sending out all test materials,
3) supervising reviewer timelines for the MMY, and
4) managing and maintaining a comprehensive computer database and paper backup filing system on 400-450 reviewers for every volume of the series.
