Job Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, within the School of Medicine is pleased to announce an opening for a Research Consultant II.

The Department offers outstanding facilities and a dedicated team of physicians, scientists, nurses and staff members committed to advancement in terms of scientific achievement, clinical service and medical education in 10 core divisions.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Performs laboratory experiments, create unique mouse and rat models to study cerebral and cardiac micro vascular inflammation and injuries in response to air pollution and ischemic injuries, collect and analyze as well as present data.
Manages and supports the optimal operations of the research lab; trains personnels; maintains animal colonies and animal models; keeps lab records and experimental protocols under the guidance of the faculty scientific mentor; coordinate research activities in different research labs on the campus to ensure optimal operations and desirable outcomes of the ongoing and upcoming collaborative research projects.
Conduct literature review, experimental design, and execution within the Institute for Precision Medicine at the University of Missouri School of Medicine under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr. Zhenguo Liu.

Shift

Mon – Fri 8:00am – 5:00pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD in biological sciences or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in small animal research especially vascular function studies, small animal cranial window, cerebral microvascular inflammation studies, cannulations of small vessels, and small animal cardiac ischemia models required; experience in small animal behavior studies required; experience in lab management and communications required; experience in therapeutic drug studies desired; experience in cell biology and molecular biology desired.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $58,573 - $108,035 Annually
GGS Grade: GGS-011
