Job Description

The People Services team provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs. Collectively with campus colleagues, HR serves as a strategic and trusted advisor, supports an inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce, and pursues continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration, and leadership.

The Human Resources Consultant role, reporting to the Associate Director of HR in A & S, will have a broad array of HR knowledge and partner with various leaders to provide high-quality advice, guidance, and support of people initiatives. The role assists in the execution of HR programs and administration relative to culture, change management, workplace planning and design, recruiting and onboarding, career development and performance management, compensation and classification, and policy management.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

· Coordinates Arts & Science Kickoff (ASK) as part of new employee orientation and onboarding.

· Creates and implements new hire communications and department-specific onboarding programs.
  • Coordinates with the department point of contact for new hires providing a smooth transition throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
  • Serves as liaison between Campus Recruitment and the hiring manager by supporting the recruiting process.
  • Creates and reviews job requisitions requests; submits information using the appropriate system.
  • Collaborates with the A & S fiscal team.
Career Development & Performance Management:
  • Partners with the A & S Associate Director of HR in developing and leading training efforts or informational sessions and related communications including the annual performance review process, leave accrual changes, recruitment and onboarding, leadership development, performance management, compliance training, and other College & HR initiatives.
  • Recommends training or professional development as necessary.
  • Participates in the career development initiative within A & S.
Compensation & Classification:
  • Provides guidance and support in completing the Position Classification Questionnaire (PCQ)
  • Assists departments with developing position descriptions.
  • Coaches and performs evaluations on requests for pay changes due to reclassifications or other out-of-cycle pay changes.
  • Provides support to departments in reviewing departmental structure.
  • Collaborates with fiscal team ensuring budget compliance.
Employee Relations:
  • Provides leadership & development coaching (supervisors & directors) on A & S culture, University policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement.
  • Supports initial level of conflict resolution and investigations, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the A & S Associate Director of HR.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as assigned by the Associate Director of HR.
  • Coaches A &S leadership and supervisors on job performance, compliance, and University policy & practices matters.
  • Advise leaders on corrective action based on fact-finding and evaluation of risks associated with specific actions in collaboration with the Associate Director of HR,
  • Coordinates and participates in employee engagement events.
  • Serves as a culture champion.
HR Programs & Policy Implementation:
  • Advises leadership on applicable federal/state regulations and University policies.
  • Identifies workflow changes and process improvements.
  • Monitors, reports, and communicates HR metrics to ensure service targets are met.
Standardizing Communications:
  • Creates standardized communications and assists with the completion of pertinent employee letters such as: termination, discipline, reclassifications, temporary pay increases, etc.
  • Partners with internal shared services team to process change requests.
  • Responds to general questions from departments about policy and procedures.
  • Stays up to date with new guidelines, practices, and procedures to ensure that all appropriate personnel are aware of new practices, etc.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri System.

Shift

Monday through Friday with flexible start and end time. A hybrid work schedule with a day of remote work is available after the successful completion of the onboarding/orientation process.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology, strategic leadership or other relevant degree programs; and 3 years of related experience demonstrating effective strategic partner responsibilities including employee relations, compensation/classification, and/or career/performance management.

Successful candidates will possess competencies in HR knowledge, relationship management, ethical practices, consultation, and communication.

HR Certification through SHRM or HRCI.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $52,000 - $73,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
