Job Description

NextGen empowers interdisciplinary collaboration and provides a nexus for activity focused on speeding the path to new treatments. This position will play a key role in large and small renovation projects, move management, maintenance, repair, and modification of the facility and equipment in coordination with campus operations. This position will report to the Director of NextGen and assist with the day to day operations of the NextGen Precision Health building. The facility is a large four story building with a basement and houses over 50 principal investigators and 400 employees. This position will be in addition to the current NextGen Facilities Manager.
  • Assist in the management of the day to day building operations of NextGen; ensure that the building is maintained at a high level cosmetically and remains safe & secure; develop and implement security standards. protocols. procedures. etc. in relation to the bldg. Respond to building emergencies as needed, at times outside of normal working hours. Serve as back-up NextGen safety coordinator; develop and update emergency preparedness and response plans to address procedures in case of emergency; train occupants on plans of emergency.
  • Coordinate and authorize MU Operations' staff access to the building in order to resolve environmental, custodial, and repair issues • Serve as a back-up contact with service personnel (e.g., equipment repairs. certification of bio-safety hoods, autoclaves, and other pressure vessels) working in the bldg., maintain a current list of outstanding projects and service work orders. Closes out projects in a timely manner, including warranty tracking, O&M manuals, and final project cost information. Provides consulting and problem-solving support to Facilities Operations on all completed projects.
  • Assist Director with management of office and lab space to ensure optimization while supporting NextGen goals; complete annual space utilization survey in collaboration with the NextGen Facilities Manager and the NextGen Business manager. Collaborate with the NextGen facilities manager in reviewing financial statements and other performance data to identify areas needing cost reduction or improvement in the context of maintaining a state of the art technical research facility.
  • Collaboration among construction, space planning and design colleagues, and campus/system management and staff.
  • Directs and documents activities related to all certifications and regulations.
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve, identify, and innovate approaches to facilities manager initiatives.
  • Manage multiple priorities and operate in a fast-paced environment with defined time frames.

Must be available for consistent, onsite work.

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8am - 5pm
Flexibility needed on nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of experience or more overseeing facilities management and operations

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $50,367 -$75,000 per year

Grade: GGS-010
