Required Related Experience

Required License/Registration/Certification

Certified Pharmacy Technician (by PTCB or ExCPhT); Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements

This position may require sitting, standing and/or walking for extended periods of time. Reaching above the shoulders may be required.

Shift

Primarily generally Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm, but can change according to the needs of UKHC and the department. May eventually include nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Job Summary

Actively provides guidance to staff regarding compliance for research related Pharmacy Policies, Procedures and Regulations pertaining to study protocols, Good Clinical Practices ( GCP), FDA, USP 795/797/800 and The Joint Commission. Completes distributive and inventory maintenance activities including, compounds sterile and non-sterile drug preparations, trains personnel within all pharmacy areas participating in research and monitors staff competency. Identifies causes/potential prevention methods of medication errors to determine strategies for improvement and to promote medication safety.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

This position requires dependability, and the ability to prioritize. The successful candidate must be reliable and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Education/Experience

Associate or bachelor's degree and hospital and/or retail pharmacy technician experience preferred. Experience managing investigational drug study inventories highly preferred.
