Mental Health Practitioner
Working Title: Mental Health Practitioner (Part-time 19 hours/week), Student Health and Counseling
Brief Summary of Job Description
Mental health practitioner works as the primary mental health counselor for the UNK student population. This position provides professional individual and group counseling services and outreach to UNK students as well as consultation to university administrators, staff and others who have concerns about the mental/emotional status of UNK students. Position will assist in all areas of Counseling functions.
Job Duties
Assesses and counsels UNK students in individual session or group settings regarding psychological/emotional problems or needs. Maintains timely, appropriate, accurate, and complete records, correspondence; safeguards confidential client information. Develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans; adept at using the DSM 5 for treatment planning. Implements crisis intervention/referral services as necessary. Works as a team player by actively participating in weekly staff meetings and departmental meetings. Maintains positive working relationships with colleagues from within cross-professional disciplines. Provides outreach service delivery/presentations/training as directed by the Associate Director of Counseling. Networks and collaborates with UNK professionals to provide appropriate resources for UNK students. Serves on-call duty on a rotating basis. Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, Social Work or related field in mental health. Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in college mental health preferred. Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner preferred.
Physical Demands
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 19 hours per week, Academic Year
