Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to manage the administrative functions of the Propulsion, Power and Thermal Systems Laboratory (PPATS) in the College of Engineering. This involves workforce development, communications and marketing, and financial management of the project's grants and expenditures. This position will be responsible for managing resources on the project while maintaining schedule and budget.

Essential Functions
Manages the project budget which includes monitoring operational costs, preparing summary reports, and facilitating project purchases and contracted maintenance. Develops schedules for project tasks and laboratory activities while managing resources overall. Maintains confidential records for personnel, laboratory equipment, training materials, and overall project documentation. Collaborates with government and industry partners along with Tennessee Tech personnel to ensure research goals are met. Facilitate the development and distribution of educational materials while maximizing effective communication techniques through various media types.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business or a related field. Three years of related professional experience with at least one year of experience with research programs and budget management. Must possess effective organizational and technical writing skills with the ability to prioritize workload in a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with managing resources involving experimental research, test, and analysis of propulsion, power systems, and thermal management systems is desired. Highly independent and able to accurately evaluate situations and make recommendations for project proposals, project budgets, and management of lab and project resources.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Administrative pay grade AD46. Sponsorship is not available.
