Job Purpose
The Department of Physics at Tennessee Tech invites applications for a full-time, nine month, non-tenure track Lecturer position to begin August 2022 and renewable every three years based on satisfactory performance review and needs of department. Essential Functions
We are seeking an outstanding candidate who can teach introductory undergraduate physics courses and labs at the conceptual, algebra-based, and calculus-based level. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the mentoring of physics majors and may also be called on to teach selected upper-level courses. In addition, the candidate is expected to participate in departmental recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts, as well as in the development of cross-disciplinary programs of study. Lecturers are encouraged, but not required, to pursue scholarly activities such as basic or applied peer-reviewed research. Ability to teach online and other delivery methods.

Minimum Qualifications
Consideration for this position requires completion of a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Previous experience teaching introductory physics courses and labs in both standard lecture and studio-style formats, excellent communication skills, and evidence of strong commitment to undergraduate education and mentoring.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with a commitment to evidence-based instruction, and who have experience teaching courses beyond the introductory level, cross-disciplinary teaching and/or research experience, and experience with online instruction.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, 9 month, non-tenure-track position, to begin August 1, 2022. Three year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance review and needs of department.
