Job Purpose
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, perform research, recruit and advise graduate students as well as service work for the mission of the Chemical Engineering Department.

Essential Functions
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemical engineering. Develop a nationally recognized and externally-funded research program (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor level applicants) and engage in scholarly activities. Participate and develop a leadership profile in professional service.



Minimum Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering field from an accredited institution by start date of employment (for those applying at one of the Professor ranks) or a minimum of an MS degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (for those applying at the Lecturer rank). All candidates should have the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the internal and external constituents of the Department. Excellence (for applicants at the Associate or Full Professor ranks) in teaching and scholarly activities as demonstrated through peer-reviewed publication and teaching (or similar experience) or evidence of potential excellence in teaching and scholarship (for applicants at Lecturer or Assistant Professor ranks). Applicants should be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Chemical Engineering, develop a nationally recognized research program (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank applicants), engage in scholarly activities, and participate in college, university, professional society, and community service. Each should have the desire and commitment to live at the forefront of scholarship in education and research and be a supporter of both active techniques in the classroom (collaborative learning, etc.) and externally funded research from federal and non-federal sources.

Preferred Qualifications
An earned bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Expertise in the broad area of chemical engineering aligned with the department’s emphasis in chemical/industrial processes, energy and the environment, and biomolecular engineering. Those with teaching interests in thermodynamics, transport phenomena, reaction engineering/catalytic processes, separations technologies, and/or process design are especially encouraged to apply as are those with research interests at the food/energy/water/health nexus (e.g., water/wastewater treatment, nuclear-related processes, etc.), in electrochemical systems (e.g., batteries), with crystallization techniques, and/or in advanced chemical process manufacturing and process control with applications to industrial cyber security and AI.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month position to start August 1, 2024.
