Job Title: Specialist

Job Purpose: Provide technology support to faculty, staff, and students, and maintain computers (both hardware and software) and related technologies in the campus environment.

Essential Functions          

Provide Tier II support and work with vendors to resolve issues. They analyze user needs, provide purchase consultation, manage technology projects, and review/approve technology purchases. Other responsibilities include deploying new technology and performing system integration testing of hardware/software upgrades. Individuals demonstrate expertise in various custom or packaged hardware and software. They have superior analysis and diagnosis capabilities and outstanding customer service and support skills.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering, or a related IT field and two years of relevant experience

OR

At least 60 hours of college credit with five years’ relevant experience; on-the-job training in IT.

Persons in this job must be familiar with programming, deployment, and analysis techniques for both macOS and Windows, as well as common software applications. Experience with project planning, purchase consultation, customer service, and being fiscally responsible is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications 

MSCE certifications are helpful. Persons in this job must be very familiar with programming, deployment, and analysis techniques for both Mac OS X and Windows, as well as common software applications.

Work Hours: Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Other hours as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Administrative Pay Grade 46.
