Certified Industrial Hygienist

Solv has an immediate need for an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist to provide full-time onsite support to a client in Quantico, Virginia. Candidates must be residing in or willing to relocate to the Northern Virginia area.
Job duties include:
- Perform industrial hygiene surveys and exposure assessments for a variety of stressors related to office environments, maintenance shops, and law enforcement training facilities;
- Develop, review, and maintain site-specific safety and health programs, policies, and guidance materials;
- Assess, control, and provide recommendations on lead exposure, contamination, and cleaning associated with indoor and outdoor firing ranges;
- Review safety and health plans, accident prevention plans, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) of proposed construction and renovation projects;
- Respond to IH issues such as indoor air quality issues, ergonomic issues, mold, construction safety;
- Perform annual facility safety and health audits;
- Provide hazardous material management services testing, inspection, and recommended corrective actions;
- Develop and provide training to facility maintenance personnel on a variety of IH/safety and health topics;
- Develop IH/safety and health outreach and communication materials;
- Assist with accident, incident, and near miss investigations and root cause analysis;
- Maintain and use industrial hygiene testing instruments such as anemometers, indoor air quality meters, and respirator fit testing equipment;
- Maintain hazard abatement log, safety equipment inventories, and personal protective equipment inventories; and
- Coordinate with other IH/safety and health personnel to ensure correct implementation of organization-wide health and safety programs.
The Certified Industrial Hygienist will work under the client's Occupational Safety and Health Manager to minimize injury and hazards to facility personnel and advance client IH/safety and health programs.
Requirements:
Candidates with experience in providing onsite industrial hygiene (IH) support to government clients; IH surveys, sampling, and evaluations; exposure assessments; and occupational safety and health program implementation experience are desired for this role. Candidates must have a well-rounded knowledge and application of enforceable and consensus safety and health standards to provide technical support to a number of areas such as hazardous materials management, hearing conservation, indoor air quality, respiratory protection, toxic and hazardous substances, among others.
Ideal candidates will have 5 to 10 years of experience, and preferably at least 3 of those years of experience in providing industrial hygiene consulting services to government clients. Must be a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and have or be able to obtain an AHERA Asbestos Inspector Certification and a Virginia asbestos inspector license. Ideal candidates will have the ability to work in teams and develop working relationships with other contractors and client divisions to implement client's IH/safety and health initiatives.
A BS or MS degree in industrial hygiene, safety and health, or related field is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
