Job Title: Summer Camp Health Director/Assistant Health Director

Reports To:  Summer Camp Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: Full-time 30-40 hours a week or part-time, seasonal

Pay Rate: $18-$24/ hour depending on experience

Job Description:
Camp Maple is on the lookout for kind-hearted and patient individuals with a genuine love for working with children and excellent communication skills. As the Camp Health Director and Assistant Director, you'll be responsible for ensuring the well-being of all campers and staff members. From managing medications, and health logs to providing medical care when necessary, you'll play a vital role in keeping everyone healthy and happy. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervises health and sanitation
  • Maintains camper's confidential medical history
  • Oversees initial health screening of campers and daily health surveillance of camp occupants
  • Handles health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness and provisions for professional healthcare
  • Maintains camp's daily medical log
  • Reports required incidents to the local health department within 24 hours
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Give weekly camper orientation along with the Camp Director pertaining to sanitization, safety, and medical needs
  • Assist in the collection, storage, and administration of medications to campers and staff
  • Treat the medical needs of campers and staff
  • Participate in outdoor activities with campers when not attending to medical needs
  • Must enjoy working with children

 

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Health Director Candidate must possess a valid NYS RN License and current First Aid/CPR Certifications (within the year)
  • Assistant Health Director Candidate must possess a valid NYS LPN License and current First Aid/CPR Certifications (within the year)
  • Must be able to lift or assist campers or staff
  • Should have the physical ability to get to remote locations on camp property quickly
  • Evidence of physical examination every two years
  • Immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella
