SUMMARY: The Audiologist functions as a member of the Otolaryngology health care team in the evaluation of hearing, performing numerous specialized diagnostic procedures; coordinates and assesses diagnostic data to determine the probable response of hearing loss to specific medical treatment; advises in the selection of, fits, and dispenses hearing aids; participates as a resource in the counseling, guidance, auditory training and education of patients. Practices within American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and American Academy of Audiology code of ethics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Formal training which will probably be indicated by a Master of Science, Audiology; CCC/A certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association; current Kentucky state licensure; state license (or eligible) to dispense hearing aids; minimum two years broad clinical experience.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; manual dexterity; articulate speech; spatial/form perception.
