Are you looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact in our community? The City of Kalamazoo - Public Services is seeking a Stores Procurement Clerk. The pay ranges from $19.19 -$23.30 hourly.
Description/Distinguishing Features
Under general direction, is responsible for monitoring and ordering inventory supplies, reviews bid results, and performs related work as required.
This is responsible work involving the requisitioning of supplies, receiving, reviewing, inspecting, issuing, storing and inventorying supplies.
Examples of Duties
• Responds timely to telephone inquiries and walk in customers, orders various stock items to maintain adequate inventory balances;
• Receives, stores, issues materials, supplies, and equipment; inspects quality and checks prices of new and existing merchandise;
• Conducts periodic and special inventories;
• Cleans and maintains stockroom and inventory locations;
• Contacts sales representatives;
• Prepares reports;
• Keeps track of various inventory reports for accuracy and makes necessary adjustments;
• Reviews inventory requirements and recommends stock items additions or deletions;
• Maintains purchase balances in various contracts according to available funds;
• Checks invoices against bid awards for contract compliance;
• Data entry using current City software, reviews bid results and recommends purchases;
• Performs other related tasks;
• Staging of construction material for system repairs or capital projects as requested;
• Responsible for, administer and reconcile a petty cash fund and a procurement (credit) card;
• The Stores/Procurement Clerk in Fleet Services uses Fleet Services and Fuel System software and thereby maintains adequate diesel fuel and no lead inventory balances;
• Monitors fueling systems locations and alarms, fuel keys, employee active data base in Trax fuel system;
• Receives, monitors, and issues fuel usages;
• Prepares monthly fuel reconciliation reports.
Essential Qualifications
• Good knowledge of business office procedures and computerized record keeping;
• Standard typing ability;
• Ten (10)-key calculator efficiency;
• Considerable knowledge of purchasing, storeroom and inventory practices;
• Ability to perform proficiently in the procurement information system;
• Accuracy in maintaining records of items received, issued, and on hand;
• Considerable skill in maintaining perpetual inventory and adequate stock levels;
• Good knowledge of business office procedures and computerized record keeping;
• Ability to make math calculations accurately and rapidly;
• Good knowledge of stored equipment, materials and parts;
• Ability to interact positively with others in professional, pleasant, and effective manner;
• Mechanical aptitude;
• Good attendance;
• Good judgment is required in the solution of routine matters;
• Good data entry skills;
• Ability to pass data entry, mathematics, forklift, weight lifting tests;
• Good oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to lift 25 pounds routinely and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Acceptable Training and Experience
• Preferably, at least two years of experience in storekeeping or material purchasing;
• Knowledge of City of Kalamazoo purchasing policies and procedures;
• Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the essential knowledge and skills to perform proficiently in the procurement information system;
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license and a valid Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operator's license, or the ability to obtain a PIT license issued by the City of Kalamazoo within six months after entering the position.
An in-house written test will be provided for this position; all KMEA bidders will receive a summary of topics to study on the same day.
